Education Minister Liz Constable today announced the list of finalists, which includes 15 other school teachers, principals and education support staff; and eight schools from across the State.
Dr Constable said Waggrakine Primary School’s achievement was impressive.
“Waggrakine Primary School has developed a reputation as an outstanding school in the Midwest and to have finalists in three of the seven 2011 WA Education Awards categories is richly deserved,” the Minister said.
“This school has a particular focus on improving outcomes for indigenous students, which includes ensuring staff gain extensive experience in supporting the linguistic and cultural needs of Aboriginal children.
“These awards recognise and reward the best of the best in public education and this year’s finalists should feel very proud.
