SCHOOL OF INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
The Department of Education's School of Instrumental Music (SIMS) services over 400 primary and secondary Western Australian Government schools. Selected children in Years 5 and 6 take part in the instrumental music programmes. These children learn brass and woodwind instruments. Classes are held once a week, conducted by visiting teachers and instruments may be hired from SIMS. Students are selected after being tested on a musical aptitude test in Year 4 and provided the opportunity to learn an instrument in Year 5 and 6.
