The City of Geraldton is 424 km north of the capital Perth. Geraldton has a population of 37 000 and Geraldton's port is the base for the mining, farming and Western Rock Lobster industries. Geraldton is located on the pristine Indian Ocean with windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, fishing, diving and swimming as popular pastimes.
Geraldton has six public primary schools consisting of, from South to North; Mount Tarcoola PS, Beachlands PS, Geraldton PS, Allendale PS, Bluff Point PS and Waggrakine PS. John Willcock College a year 8 and 9 campus and Gerladton senior College a Year 10, 11 and 12 campus provide the government high schooling.
Waggrakine Primary is recognised as a lead school in the Geraldton and Mid West region. At the 2010 Western Australian Education Awards we were identified in the top four schools for Literacy School of the Year and Principal of the Year. In addition we are thrilled to have one of our teachers, Mrs Kellie Hunter, recognised as a winner in the new category of Beginning Teacher of the Year.
